Who is eligible to submit?
High school, undergraduate, and graduate students from anywhere in the world are encouraged to submit to Columbia Scientist, as long as the submission is in English.
When will I hear back?
Decisions will be made by March 31, 2024. Every applicant, no matter their application status, will receive an email in March 2024 about whether or not they were selected for publication.
How long are the articles?
- Written portion maximum: 500-1500 words
- Image/art size maximums: 8.5 inches x 11 inches maximum

What kinds of figures can I include in my submission?
Supplement your article with an infographic, a diagram, a photograph, or a table that assists in the explanation of a scientific concept. See the submission guidelines please for specific sizing requirements.
Can I submit more than once?
Each student is allowed one submission per publishing year, no matter the category of the submission (i.e. Opinion Editorial, Briefing, Letter, Science Art Showcase, Podcast Script).
